Through Sparrow, Karen found
the safety and security she
needed to comfortably
share her home.

Karine (Housemate): I didn't know it was a concept to start off with, and then when I did learn about it, I was a little bit hesitant just because I come from a home sharing situation where I've had issues with roommates or other members of the same home. So I was a little bit wary going into this. But the thing that really clarified for me was actually finding compatible match.

Karine (Housemate): We're both outdoorsy people, so we've been going on a lot of walks and hiking together. Karen's shown me some really nice trails around here. We've also visited Centennial Park, which is, I think, a really nice place. Apart from that, we've been cooking many meals together, so we do have very similar diets, which is actually something that's really attracted me to Karen as well, even through the match system, because I've had some experiences with varying diets before, and it can be a little bit uncomfortable.

Karen (Host): She cleans up after herself, so, yeah, I don't have to worry about that. And I'm going to give Sparrow kudos for that. Again, they did a good match because that's very important to me. Like, I like clean, I like everything clean, and I'm fine with her and her hampster. They all fit in the family.

Karine (Housemate): When I'm looking for other places, my biggest problem is coming across scams. A lot of people, they weren't genuine in actually trying to help somebody find a place to live, and they weren't renting out anything particular, but they just wanted that first deposit.

Karen (Host): Those fears and reservations were quelled when I spoke with Sparrow, and they assured me that they would try to do a perfect match and do a background check, verify the person's identity and all that.

Karine (Housemate): It's not fair to certain individuals to have to give away all or most of their income just to be able to have a basic human right. So I think Sparrow is very good in being accommodating for that circumstance. But this is a really nice transition for me to be able to finally enter a new environment. But I still have care in here to support me. So it's not I wouldn't say it's just strictly moving from one place to another. I still have those same support systems around myself, but it's giving me an opportunity to develop into a better version of myself.
